I’m back from my trip to Nashville, and am thoroughly exhausted yet blessed by the wonderful weekend I shared with other bloggers. I’ve gleaned a few more ideas on how to save on traveling, and wanted to share them all with you. See the first part of Ways to Save Money While Traveling here.
Tip #6
Pack your own snacks and simple items for meals. Our hotel room at the Blissdom Conference does not have a microwave. So we took our flat top electric griddle with us. Another option would be to bring a small toaster oven. With our griddle we can make grilled cheese, hot dogs and more. These are simple things we can eat without breaking the bank at the Nashville restaurants.
Tip # 7
Plan ahead of time, and find out which stores are in the area you will be in. Do coupon matches for deals you can use, and plan a quick shopping trip for when you arrive. This is of course, only if you haven’t packed all your food ahead of time. With all of our clothes and other luggage, it would have been way tou cramped bringing my pantry along.
Tip #8
Bring Tea Bags. Hot water is free almost anywhere. Bring yourself some tea bags, and you can have hot tea any time! Herbal teas are healthful, energizing to the body and sometimes a great way to help you fall asleep easier in a strange bed. Tea bags are great to take on a plane as well. Ask a flight attendant for hot water, and enjoy nice hot tea during your flight.
Tip #9
Carpool if you can. If more than one person in your area is going to the same place you are, try to put together a carpool and split the traveling costs.
Tip #10
Find a rooming buddy. If it is a special event like Blissdom, and multiple people you know will be there, consider sharing a hotel room and splitting the costs! This helps everyone, and can also be a blast to stay with buddies!
These are just a few ideas that I have for saving money when going on a trip. What are some of your ideas?
