On a somewhat sad/maybe happy note, it looks like Walgreens will be doing away with their rebate program.  You can see some details on this HERE.  What are your thoughts on this?  Do you think they will be trying to go the CVS route?  And will that make it easier or harder on the coupon crowd?  Chime in with your thoughts!

I am okay with it, figured it would happen with an ever growing crowd of folks who shop the deals. CVS and Wags can only afford to give away stuff for so long in this economy, so I’m just enjoying it while it lasts. Walgreens is a much more challenging store to shop in, in terms of mean cashiers, unavailable sale items, confusing ESR and RR programs. Oh well.

Hmmm…Not sure what to think. I think it is the easiest rebate system going, but they do have WAY too much going on. I think CVS is easier because it’s much less confusing for both us and the workers. They have about the same amount of deals (sometimes more) as CVS but it’s not as simple as walk in and scan your card. I usually only make 1 trip a month if at all because of it. I seem to always mess up or they mess up. Blah.

So as easy as their rebate system is (love the bonus and how it goes right on the card) I think overall they need to simplify, but keep the same quantity/quality of deals if they want to keep up with CVS.

I agree with Nicole. With managers/cashiers with horrible attitudes and don’t understand company policy makes it harder to shop once you finally figure it all out. I’ve had some fun on weeks with good deals but I don’t think I will miss it. I think they might see a drop in customers until it all works out though.

I know they are getting new register systems this summer, so I hope they are incorporating a card like CVS has rather than relying on RRs like they have been. Having the staff working on the Easy Saver program was surely expensive, plus postage and everything. The CVS EC card system has to be more efficient, but that limits the amount of times you can do deals. I’ve noticed how WAGs has been offering more things FARRs or offering a RR for another free item wyb one, but there are so many things wrong with the RR process, so many stipulations with redeeming them, they’re only good for two stinkin’ weeks and maybe they won’t print, etc. I hope they don’t rely on that for sure. The rebate book sure was nice while it lasted, offering extra coupons we could double-up and the 10% extra back on the gift cards, and putting the money on cards that don’t expire.

I LOVED doing the ESR rebates. It was so easy to enter the info from your receipt and getting the gift card was so nice. I also have found the RR program very problematic. The managers don’t know the policy and tell you you cannot use manufacturer coupons and receive the RR’s. I have called the catalina company and received RR’s directly from them when I have had a problem at a store. I also enjoyed using manufacturer coupons along with the WAGS coupons and the 10 percent incentive for a gift card.
Sorry to see the ESR rebate program going.

I like the ESR @ WAGS because of the 10% added on to the total savings. That’s all I have ever been a fan of. Anyhow TTM, remember that mail-in-rebate on Physicians Formula Organix Wear Make up awhile ago, do you think this would work for this sale?? Thank you!!

Rebate for Physician’s Formula states requirement to send in Try Me Free sticker from package. I have yet to find any with this sticker. Also, I tried to use $5 Q for Glucerna cereal today. Register would not accept because price of cereal was penny under value of Q. It would not have been a negative balance, and I wasn’t using RR. Could this be the end of overages?

I like the weekly Walgreens deals, but the rebate program never was never for me, so no loss either way.

I heard that everyone participating was making money on the back end though.

Oh, one thing I’ll miss greatly is doubling up from coupons from the Easy Saver Book and using manufacturer coupons. Darn!

I talked to the manager at my Walgreens today and she would not confirm that April is the last month for the Easy Saver but she did say there will be a change. She said that with the change there will be no more submitting for the rebate it will be received at the register. It sounds like it will be similar to CVS. It also sounds like the 10% bonus will be gone but once again the manager would not confirm this.

I am actually going to miss it. I just figured out how to use the rebate system only to have it ending. Plus, I’m going to miss being able to use the WAG’s Q’s at Publix. But, I dont look forward to more of their RR programs. It’s just too confusing. Plus, I dont like how they’re trying to say you can earn the RR but not if you use a coupon. Where is the bargain for me going to shop at WAG’s?

I have talked to a manager from Wags and he confirmed that April will be the last month for the easy saver. August should be the last month for the rr program. He said they are going into a similar direction as ecb’s from cvs but that nothing is definite yet, and it could change at the last minute. He also said that he has heard a rumor that you would have to mail in each individual rebate, meaning one per envelope. But again he does not know if that is true. certainly hope not, what a waste of stamps and paper and time when it would be easier just to go to cvs. Also about the comment on what Nicole said, just because tons of us are using coupons and only getting the deals, Wags is not losing money. The manuf. reimburse wags (including the rr’s cause they are manuf. coupons too) alot of times, these products were not good sellers(but some were) and they need to move product, to use that space for something that will sell better. The manuf. would rather get a little something back then not sell it at all, or if there is just too much product, they most often times give it away just to get the prime spot in the store for there next item. I suspect the main reason they are doing away with the programs is that it is just too confusing and not even the store employees/managers are on the same page with how to use the rr’s and coupons and all that. With that being said I am sorry to see it go, I have enjoyed it while it lasted, but I will be going to cvs instead this summer after Wags stops their programs.

I’m interested in the No Nonsense Pantyhose sale at Walgreens this week(3/29). I see that you said there is a $1/1 coupon in the 3/29 inserts, but I have looked thru them numerous times and I cannot find it. Can you help me? Thanks
