from+the+ground+up+2 From The Ground Up Week 1 Scenario

I recently let my husband burn the last of my Extra Bucks because I didn’t want to think about doing the CVS thing while moving and unpacking.  So I’m ready to build up those extra bucks on my card again.  Ready to follow along with me for the month?

I have 1 Extra Buck that printed on my receipt from picking up my son’s prescription yesterday.  It was from the quarterly spending.  If you have done CVS shopping in the past, then your quarterly extra bucks are now printing at the registers.

I’m doing this to help out all you newbies.  Feel free to follow along.  If you feel too overwhelmed, just do one transaction so that you can see how it works.  Also, be sure to call 1-800 Shop CVS and register your card with an email address.  They will send you a $4/20 coupon to use.  Check out my CVS 101 post HERE, and you can view the weekly deals HERE.

UPDATE:  Here is a new scenario for you if you are just joining this series.  The previous scenario could only be done on Sunday or Monday, so here is one for you:

Transaction 1:
3 Mentos Gum $3.87
1 Colgate Max Fresh $2.99
Use $1/1 Max Fresh Coupon from the 3/29 SS insert
Use 3 $1/1 Mentos Coupons from the 3/1 SS inserts
= $2.86 + tax Out of Pocket
Earn $2.99 and $1 in Extra Bucks

Transaction 2:
2 Skintimate Shave Gel $3.49
Use $2.99 Extra Buck from Previous Transaction
=.50 + tax Out of Pocket
Earn $3.49 in Extra Bucks.

So when all is said and done you will have spent $3.36 + tax, and have a total of $4.49 in Extra Bucks to spend next week.

________________________________________________

So here is my plan for tomorrow.

Week 1 Scenario (feel free to follow along or make it your own! These transactions must be done Sunday or Monday).

Transaction 1
3 Mentos Gum $3.87
1 Easter Grass .79
=$4.66
-1 ECB
-3 $1/1 Mentos coupons from the 3/1 SS
=.66 + tax out of pocket, Earn back 1.76 Extra Bucks.

Transaction 2
2 Bamboo Easter Baskets $3.98
-1.76 ECBs
= $2.22 + tax OOP, Earn 3.98 in Extra Bucks

Transaction 3
1 Easter Grass .79
1 Skintimate Shave gel 3.49
=4.28
-3.98 in Extra Bucks
=.30 + tax OOP, Earn 4.28 in Extra Bucks

If they are out of mentos, do Colgate Max Fresh for your first transaction.  Pair it with the $1 coupon from the 3/29 inserts.

Think you can attempt 3 transactions your first time?  If not, that’s okay.  Just do one so that you can see how the system works.  Chime in with your questions, and please introduce yourself if you will be following this month-long series.

I am pretty new to couponing as is, and I’m trying to get my act together so that I can teach all of my friends, scattered all over the country. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that you’re doing this from the ground up! This will hopefully help me teach my mom, most of all, who swears by CVS and CVS only. (She’s old, lol) I don’t have a CVS close to me where I am now, but in a few years, my husband’s orders will change and we’ll be back in South Carolina again so I’ll be able to use everything I’ve learned – finally. Thanks for doing this CVS series “from the ground up” for us newbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!)

Hi, my name is Mandy, and I love your blog, it’s been a HUGE blessing! I have been CVSing for over a year now and LOVE it. But I was recently sick and not doing much shopping and used up all of my ECBs so I’m “starting over”. I love your plan, thank you for sharing that. I will be following your “from the ground up” plan for the month! :) Tomorrow, I’m going to try to follow your 3 recommended transactions, but since I need some diapers and baby products, I’m also going to try to purchase them using the “buy $25.00 dollars of products, get $10.00 in ECBs back”. If it all works out, I should be able to purchase the things on your list as well as 2 packs of Huggies diapers, 2 Johnson’s baby products, and 1 pack of Huggies mega wipes, spending approximately $20.77oop including tax and leaving with $10.00 in ECBs. Oh, I have a couple of $3/$15 coupons to use that will help. Thank you SO much for your research, again, it has so blessed our family and helped us save a lot of money!

Oh, I meant to ask. If we only have one Mentos gum coupon this scenario will still work right?
