Tuesday Testimony
Tax time can be very stressful for some people, and exciting for others. What better to talk about today than money? The Bible tells us that “the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10).” I’ve heard it said many a time, that where your money is, there your heart is as well. What you invest your money is, shows the world where your priorities are. Do you spend all your money gambling or drinking? Do you put all your money in stocks and bonds (which results in the never-ending stress of what will happen to it from day to day)? Do you spend all your money on “things” that will never make you happy?
Money, like all things in the world, will pass away, but the Lord and His children will remain (1 John 2:17). As His children we must remember that everything we have belongs to Him. Not just 10%. God gives us everything and only asks that we honor Him with the first 10th (Malachi 3:10). Sometimes we have trouble just honoring Him with that, don’t we? But it’s time that we as a people start to honor Him with everything, and not just the first 10th. When was the last time you asked God what He would like you to do with the money you have? Do you think He would mind that you spend $100-$200 eating out at restaurants every month, when there are people across our nation and the world that are starving?
Money is a tough subject, that many people try to stay away from. But I think we have a responsibility to be wise stewards of what the Lord entrusts in us. I too am guilty of wasting my money on things we don’t need. I too have not honored God with my spending all the time. And I too have had times where I did not even tithe like I should have.
I encourage you to take a look at what you are spending your money on, and see if those things really deserve your heart. Don’t just give God the first 10%, but honor Him with everything that you have.
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. Ecclesiastes 5:10

It’s not coincidence that everytime I am struggling with a particular issue, you have a testimony that hits right at the heart of it. Thank you tremendously and I thank God for you, for Him to put you into my “web life” is wonderful!
I have been a faithful tither for many years, and I also give offerings for other needs at times. One thing I have learned though all of it is that I have never missed or needed a dime of what I’ve given to God.
God takes care of those who are faithful stewards of their money. Now that is not to say you will have all your wants, but he will supply all your needs.
You’re right this subject is not one many people like to talk about, but you did a great job.

So true! I just heard a wonderful talk from a religious leader recently on debt. And while it’s so simple what he says, it’s also true. We need to ask ourselves if we really need it. AND, even if we can afford, do we really need it. Is that money better spent elsewhere? Speaking of bad choices we make, he said: “Our success is never measured by how strongly we are tempted, but how faithfully we respond.” (I myself know of the power of tithes — when I decided to faithfully pay it, that first year I saw an increase in my pay by $10K. That’s quite a bit. Made a believer of me. Although better are those that believe without needing to test it.) Thanks for your site!
