Each week on Wednesday, I spotlight a website that I think is worthy, and give you a little review of it.
In the spotlight for October 28, 2009 is Cheapism!
This is a fairly new site, but I’m already loving what is being done with it. If you’ve ever purchased a big ticket item, chances are you have considered buying an off-brand just so you could save some money. But, your concern is always whether or not you are sacrificing quality when you buy the cheaper item.
Enter Cheapism. Cheapism.com does the leg work in finding the cheaper brands and actually reviewing and comparing them to the higher priced models. If you want a new lap top, just type that into the site and they will give you the off-brand recommendation with a thorough review of it. Cheap doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice quality, so be sure to check out Cheapism’s reviews before purchasing those big ticket items.
I hope you all will check it out HERE, and let me know what you think!

I’ve been “out of commission” for the last few days so I’ve had to play Thriftymama catch-up, so sorry I’m a few days late but much to my delight, your wednesday website went right into my fav’s!!!! I absolutely love cheapism.com. All of my friends know that I don’t buy ANYTHING without looking it up on Consumer Reports first but my complaint about Consumer Reports has always been…. “How do the cheaper brands weigh in?”. This site marries my two passions 1) buying smart and 2) being thrifty!!! Thank You so much for the recomendation, I’M HOOKED!!!!
