Update: Target seems to not want to honor price matches on doorbuster deals. I will no longer promote deals that are price matching doorbuster deals at Target. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  See comments for more info.

From 11/13-11/14 Toys R’ Us has the LeapFrog Alphabet Pal for only $10.49.  Grab their ad and take it into Target to price-match.  Then use the $10 Target coupon HERE to get it for .49 cents.
Some of you have reported that Target isn’t allowing you to price-match AND use a Target coupon.  But, there is still nothing about this in their coupon policy.  In fact, the Economical Manager emailed Target and got a response that says you can do this.  You can print off a copy of her email HERE.

According to my Target, they do not price match Door Buster sales or limited quantity items. I have emailed for a confirmation from corp…will let you know what comes out of this.

Tiffany – I got the same response when I called my local store… no to price matching door buster deals.

They said you can use a Target coupon w/ price matching though.

Regarding the door buster issue, Walmart does price-match doorbusters. In Fact, Walmart will price-match all Black Friday deals if you go in at the appropriate time. So if Target is really wanting to compete with Walmart’s price-matching policy, then they should be matching doorbuster deals.

I can’t find the ad; what paper did you find the ad in or will Target take a printed copy from their web site?

Misty November 12, 2009 at 9:12 pm

Toys R’ Us will not accept any competitor coupons.

So do you have to wait till after 3 since it’s a door buster sale and the Toys R Us add says after 3pm?

Reply

Kathy November 13, 2009 at 2:50 am

Is this in the regular weekly Toys R Us ad, or a special ad that you have to go to the store to Pick-up? I can’t find it in the regular weekly ad.

You all will need to wait to try to get it at the correct time.

I went to my target this morning (looking for the Monsters Inc movie… which might I add they still don’t have any… nice target, nice). Anyway. I stopped at the service desk with the Toys R Us add showed the lady the leapster pal and asked if it could be price matched (I am 7.5 months pregnant and had two and four year old children with me, I was not going to waste my time in the toy isle and even told her that.). she saw that it was current and said sure, no problem. So, I went and go the pal and checked out (used the $10 coupon). I then went to the same lady at the service desk to get price matched. She then refused saying they don’t do door busters. The manager was right there so I pitched a fit, saying I had just asked and she said it was fine. They said it is right in “their book” from corprate they don’t do it. They would do a “two day holiday add but not a door busters”. I told her to return it then I did not want it. She proceeded to look at my reciept and tell me I got it cheaper there than I would have anyway. I explained the coupon and told her $.49 is a whole lot cheaper than $9.99. She told me next time she will look at an add closer, I told her next time I will reconsider shoping at target.

If I sounded a little peaved in my last comment, well I was, sorry. I found this link and am wondering where door busters fall in their list of exclusions. I wont try it again for this deal but I was curious.
Happy day.

I went to target in Birmingham and tried to do it. The cashier said they do price match so I gave her my coupon and paid, went to service desk to get adjustment. They couldn’t do it because the price is already lower. I appreciate people sharing good deals but this one is bogus and just seems to be frustrating all of us. I think any logical thinker would realize that no store will see this as a fair deal.
Thanks for all the great deals and time spent on saving us all money!!

@ gbmom2407/anna

I can understand your frustration. I have many issues with my baby registry and I won’t recommend anybody to register at Target. Some people get Target gift card and a tote bag full of samples. I didn’t get any of these plus they never emailed me my 10% completion coupon also. I emailed and called them so many times but they did nothing. Just one apology email. What a shame…The only time I shop at Target when they have some really good deal.
I hate Target. Sorry, but I really do.

JYOTI. I think my point of frustration was that she very well could have told me that initially when I asked. That would have been fine and actually I it is what I expected to be told (from all of the previous comments on this post), but it never hurts to ask, so I did. Over it.. can you tell :)
By the way, this is not a bogus deal if they price match off the orignal price (before the coupon…) which they do (for the right add). Oh well. Like Ashley said, thanks for all your hard work trying to save us all money!

I have to concur with jvoti. I keep telling myself I won’t shop at Target ever again, and yet somehow I let myself get sucked in and within one or two trips, I’m disgusted with Target again and myself for patronizing Target. We had a terrible experience with our baby registry there: we received no discount when our son arrived (he was premature) or after his due date, nor any other benefits. Returning items was a nightmare – if no gift receipt was available, we only received credit for the lowest price the item has been.

I have been to two Targets four times since Wednesday looking for the Monsters Inc. DVD. No luck. To top it off, I’ve been told wrong information about when shipments are coming in. Today was the most frustrating day, as I was told the DVDs would be stocked by 8:45. I arrived at 9:00 and none were shipped. Additionally, I was pleased to find the alphabet toy. When I took the item to guest services for the price match, I was told they could not honor my printout of the ad, so I left, got a paper and the ad, and returned. At that point, I was informed they would not honor the ad, because it was a “door buster,” as many of you have discovered. I just wished they had stated this to start with and saved me the time and frustration of hauling myself and one-year-old around in search of the paper with an ad.

I’m sorry this is causing so much trouble. Until we hear word on a change with Target, I will no longer promote door buster price matches. I’m sorry that this has been an inconvenience to so many.

The pictured Leapfrog Alphabet Pal in the Toys R Us ad is a different model than the one sold at Target. Look closely at the photo, and they are different. The one at Toys R Us seems to be an older version.

I did have to leave and go get the ad at TRU (wouldn’t take the printout from online of the ad) but I did get the toy for my little guy for 52 cents. Thanks!

My Target did have several signs throughout the store this week saying that they will not price match doorbuster ads. I went down the toy aisle looking for a few other things and noticed the Leap Frog alphabet pal was on temporary price cut. I used my 10.00 off coupon and got it for 4.99 — not as great of a deal as .49 cents, but better than the usual 9.99 after coupons!

Well I had a different problem. Seems like Target’s customer Service is non-existent. I took a printed version of the internet add for my local Toys-R-Us ad to Guest Services (I couldn’t find the ad in my paper) and they told me that they HAVE to have the full ad, not just the page that the deal is on. But the thing is that they don’t keep the ad. SO, they know the competitor’s price, and I know the competitor’s price, but they want to waste my time with red-tape? Huh-uh, I’ll take my business elsewhere thanks. Thanks anyway Crystal, and keep the deals coming!

No go for me…they told me first no ads printed off from online…we even read the policy and I then called cs and they were stumped at the verbage not specifically including printed local ads. The policy does not state professionally printed ads fro newspapers or stores. Anyway, the second thing that hung me was ‘door busters’. they would not honor any prices anywhere in the ad since the first page said door busters.

I went today and the supervisor said absolutely to the ad & to the coupon…I didn’t even need to show the policy to them! I did have the whole actual ad from the newspaper though.

Thank you Crystal for this deal! It worked for me without any problems. I did have to go to two Targets to find one in stock. I was able to get one for a friend who is really hurting financially and one for a gift for Christmas. Your site is wonderful and I really appreciate your hard work! Keep the deals coming!

They told me I needed to have the full ad (which I had) and I got THE LAST ONE in stock :)

I double checked twice they would take it and @ the register she said the coupon might not work since it was only 53 cents, but it scanned just fine.

Late Bday/early Xmas present for my nephew, ty so much for this one

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I went in with my TRU ad, got the toy and went straight to the customer service desk and ask if I can price match a toy there or if I need to do it at the registers. She said she would be happy to help me with that. She looked at my ad (it wasn’t even 3pm yet) ad adjusted the price down and then I told her I had a target coupon. She scanned it through and I walked out paying $0.53 after tax! My mom went to her target and did this too and got two of them also for $0.53 each! So we have 3 which we will hang onto for XMAS gifts and BDAY gifts!

I went to my local Target in Columbia, SC and they price matched no problem. i actually was able to get 2 for only 49 cents each! Great Christmas presents. I am also going to try to get the Kroger Hasboro games BOGO price matched using the manufacturer coupons plus the Target coupons for $5 each and get them 2 for $3.99. I will update tomorrow to let you guys know if it worked!

I just have to make a comment. I’m not a fan of Target. I have to be honest. I had so many problems with Target’s wedding registry 7 years ago that I pretty much stopped shopping there. Very similar to Hallie’s experience – they wouldn’t allow us to return duplicate items from the registry and I had numerous duplicate items. i was hoping a Registry would prevent that. Their customer service was unhelpful. Later I got a Christmas present that I wanted to return without a receipt and they charged a 20% restocking fee for a coffee maker! I could have put it back on the shelf myself! Again, that was 7 years ago!

I only go if the deal is really good AND there is no risk that I have to return the item. I was hoping over 7 years that Target would be better about their customer service (return policies, coupon policies and prices) but I guess that isn’t the case.

I know there are a lot of fans of Target and that is fine. For those that have been frustrated know you are not the only one!

Apparently Target refuses to price match BOGO deals. I suggested to the Manager very nicely that Target should publish exactly what their guidelines are for price matching because as a consumer it was not my responsibility to just “know”. A friend of mine also purchased the sparks scooter last week using the 20% coupon in their Christmas book. they then placed it on sell this week so she went into the store with the reciept to be refunded the difference and the woman behind the counter refused unless she had the coupon which she no longer had. Needless to say she just returned it got her money back! I agree with the previous post..unless it is an Awesome deal my business will be taken somewhere else!
