It was quite a week for all of us deal finders, wasn’t it? I went shopping on Black Friday for the first time ever. Usually I hide because it’s such a crazy day. But this year I was brave enough to head out for a few deals. I got some really cheap small appliances from Kohl’s along with some Christmas Flannel sheets for only $14.99 a set. I also got diapers at Babies R’ Us for $3 a pack, an external hard drive and 40 Duracell Batteries for FREE after Staples Reward.
But let’s get onto the juicy stuff, of what I spent on groceries this week.
Total Spent On Groceries This Week: $41.49 Total Saved: $61
Not included in the picture are 4 packs of diapers from Babies R’ Us, Five Spice and Heavy Whipping Cream that I used for a fabulous Five Spice Pumpkin Pie. If you have not tried that recipe yet, you need to! It is a really easy no-bake pie that will have people raving over it!
The great thing about my shopping this week was that I used all printable coupons except one. And that one was a coupon I received in the mail for signing up with a company online. As printable coupons become more and more popular, I’m finding that I am using a lot less insert coupons each week. I’ve been doing a little experimenting this last month, and I have not gotten the Sunday paper like I normally do (gasp). It’s been over a month since I got insert coupons. I found that I was using a lot less of them the past six months, and thought it was time to experiment. So far I am doing really well with my groceries with using mainly printable coupons. The only drawback I have noticed is that I don’t have some of the coupons to do the regular deals at CVS each week. So I may start back, but only get 1-2 Sunday papers each week, versus the 4-5 I was getting before.
YTD Spending: $1,834 ($38.21 weekly average over 48 weeks)
YTD Savings: $5,808 (76%)
Coupon Costs: $121

I am always curious about coupon match-ups. What was the deal you found on the Organic Valley milk? Great shopping!
Hey Stephanie, I’m sorry I am just getting back with you. I had a Free Chocolate milk coupon with the purchase of two gallons of milk. For the white milk I had $2/2 coupons. There are $1/1 coupons available on the organic valley website.
where do you buy your milk? i want to start buying organic milk, we buy almost everything else organic…its just so pricey, even with coupons…but we are going to start trimming other items to cover the difference… any store in particular you find cheaper?
I usually either get it at Publix or Kroger. Kroger has great mark downs, so watch for those. Publix takes competitor coupons along with manufacturer coupons to make deal even better.
Hey Crystal – In regards to the Staples Duracell Battery deal have you gotten confirmation that you will get the Staples Reward? I understand that it is a Staples in store credit NOT cash check. Correct? Not like the Staples Easy Rebate program.
Thanks,
Holly
