Hello and thanks for this great shopping list of ideas for CVS this coming week. I am not a pro at this yet getting better so when you ask if anyone has any other input for increased deals, I believe I read that the SC Johnson $5 Rebate Offer is still active and we only have to buy any 3 items and then mail in the form and receipt and UPC codes and wait to get an extra $5 refund check back. I looked it up on their website and it still says ANY Glade Products are part of this Rebate, so with your Deal #1 on the Glade products, it seems we could mail off to make an additional $5 back after receiving the SCJohnson rebate check. I hope this is correct and my apologies if I am not in the “loop.”
I believe the math on the glade is off a little, it’s $3 oop before the ECBs total, but still a great deal!
Actually, the math is correct (for scenario #1). You spend $6, get 4 ECBs, totaling $2.00. I would actually not pay this since I made about $35.00 on Glade recently at Target. However, the candles smell terrific, so if you didn’t score at Target, may be worth it, especially the Apple Cinnamon. Thanks for the tips!
plus if you have purchased the Glade candle holders before you can use the coupons that come inside the containers (either $1.50 off one holder or $2.00 off two holders) to make it an even better deal!
is the revlon coupon regional? i didnt receive it and im in northern cali
what is an ecb?
I went to Walgreens today to exchange some items I ended up not using and paid for with extra bucks, in-ad coupons, and/or MF coupons. The store manager told me that these items couldn’t be returned or exchanged for other items. Basically, he was saying that I am stuck with these items. I wondered whether what the manager told me is correct. Also, does anyone know about the return or exchange policy for items that are free after register rewards?
I just joined the “couponers” group not long ago but am getting negative vibes from some Walgreens staff and managers for using lots of coupons to pay as little as possible out of pocket. Althought all the RR and coupons I used were legitimate, their nonverbal communication made me feel that I was doning somehitng I should not. It seemed that they did not like the idea of customers getting many items for free after all RR and coupons applied. The experience makes me uncomfortable using coupons at Walgreens in the future, especially for purchases I may end up paying very little after RR and coupons. I wondered whether others have similar experience at Walgreens or other drug stores.
Kate,
You should not feel this way and the staff at Walgreen’s should not be making you feel this way. They are credited for all of the coupons and RR’s your using so Walgreen’s is still getting their money. And the Walgreen’s employee’s are all doing the same things we are and they get a 15 -20% discount on top of it!
I am located in Md and have gotten the same vibes at Walgreens. It ruins the experience for me!
I actually saw a women at Wal greens be harassed for buying softsoap body wash when is was on sale for 1.99. The sign said limit 2 per customer and she was being hrassed because she looked like someone who was at the store the day before buying the on sale item. The manger almost didn’t let her buy it. The whole exchange was very uncomfortable to witness. I was harassed at CVS for trying to use more than one coupon from the pharmacy. I had 25.00 of beauty supplies and 25.00 of other items. They would not let me use both 4.00 coupons like I had in the past. They also would not let me split up my purchases in order to use both coupons. It was upsetting. I don’t know why the cashiers get so bothered. Its not like its their money. We should complain at the corporate level somehow as i don’t think anything will happen dealing with the local store managers.
Wow ladies, that is not fun! I have had some of the same experiences at Walgreens, but typically only with one manager. And on a few occasions, I’ve had problems at Rite Aid. I recommend politely contacting cooperate by email or phone and letting them know about the problem. So far this has always gotten a very favorable response for me. And besides, unless someone “complains” cooperate never knows that these problems exist.
Dawn, in response to your comment about why the cashiers care because it is not their money. It might be helpful to remember that at any store when someone gives us a hassle it is probably only because they want to do their job well. Cashiers to get hash from management if they accepted coupons improperly and ultimately it can affect whether they have a job. I find this helps me to remember this when I run into a cashier that treats me almost like a thief.

I have alot of the same problems as well,I try to stay away from this particular store as much as possible.
I gave up on Walgreens a long time ago. They were just not nice. Their system trips me up a lot! (end up paying more than expected). Once in a while, I will go to Walgreens to get a “can’t miss deal”, but that is very rare!!! CVS is a whole lot simpler and the staff is very nice! I even have a cashier who gives me tips for deals she sees and also thanks me for mine!
kate – you’ve just run into a coupon nazi. go to a different store. you may be better off just to forego the receipt process and tell them you purchased the wrong products and need a store credit (without rct). from their point of view -they just don’t want to give you the free items one week and give you cash back the next. you still have the RR you earned.
It does seem a bit sketchy to try to return something you got for free, especially since some people try to make extra money that way. It’s probably better to make sure you need it before using the extra bucks (or register rewards) to buy it. It helps keep things legit.
Marie, I am with you on this one. I wasn’t trying to return the free items I got after RR. What’s your or others’ take on exchanging free items for other items? How about returning or exchanging items you still have to pay with some cash after RR?
I personally don’t think it is right or fair to take back free items for cash back. The stores are not ATM’s, and while I understand that the stores get their money back from coupons and register rewards, I think it leaves a bad taste in most people’s mouth to see that- it certainly does mine. For me, it ranks up there with people clearing out shelves just because they can. If you have the free items and want to get rid of them, donate them to a food pantry, nursing home, church, or other organization that could put them to good use.
Has anyone had a problem with using more than one ecb? Example: diapers rig up to $8.23 and you have two ecb’s, 5 bucks each and they tell you can’t use them both because they are over the price of your item.
Walgreens is horrible about letting you use RR for amounts that are under the amount RR; even if you purchase right on the money, they treat you like a criminal. We even have a clerk in Wabash, Indiana that is down right nasty. I take my checkout to the beauty counter to avoid her no matter the scenerio. Each register gets credit for their amount sales for the day. Keep this in mind too.
Latoya, When using ECBs or RRs the value of the “coupon” cannot exceed the cost of the item – you cannot get money back. Either use only 1 or plan to add another item to come as close to the pre-tax total as possible.
In regards to Walgreens – I ALWAYS check out at the cosmetics counter. The ladies there are very helpful and generally know how to use the coupons correctly. Also, the more business they do at that counter, the more money they personally make. I am on a first name basis with the cosmetics lady now because she is always willing to help me get the best deal legally possible. Don’t give up until you give the cosmetics counter a try!!
Here’s what I do…while I am shopping I ckeck the attitude of the cashiers as I make my rounds. I try to find the nicest one-you can usually tell after observing them. Then I try to wait until there is no line. I introduce myself by saying something like…I am new at this and I know it will take some extra time so I’d really appreciate your help…after all it is their job. So when we moved and the pharmacy guy would not give me the CVS cash card after I brought in a new prescrition I went to the manager and just said I wasn’t a happy customer and told her what happened. I ended up with a $25 dollar gift card with EACH of my prescriptions. So keep trying and find a cashier you like. Just make sure to be super polite because after all it can’t be any fun running a register at a drug store.
Kate–I really just don’t exchange at Walgreens and CVS. Occasionally if I bought some diapers and my daughter went up to the next size, I will exchange for that exact brand in a different size. That’s about it.
Amanda–I am SO with you on the clearing the shelf thing. ARRRGHGHGH!!

I went to CVS and tried to buy 2 Revlon SuperLustrous lipsticks and use two coupons in one transaction – but the computer wouldn’t accept it, and both the cashier and manager said that if the computer wouldn’t take it, then I couldn’t use it. I’ve been CVSing for over a year and never run into this problem. The coupons weren’t expired and I was able to use the coupon again in another transaction – just not two coupons for two products in the same transaction. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a new CVS policy? It seems strange.
My $2 Revlon coupon wouldn’t scan properly and the manager at my CVS said that it wasn’t for lipstick. I tried to courteously question her since it says that it is for any color cosmetic, but she said the picture didn’t show lipstick, so it wasn’t for lipstick. (The picture does show lipgloss however). Just wondering if anyone else had problems with the Revlon.
Erin – I have noticed that the Revlon coupons don’t scan on a regular basis no matter what you are getting. Any Revlon Cosmetic means any revlon cosmetic…not just what is pictured.
I had a bad experience with Walgreens the day of Thanksgiving. I couldn’t use the manufactor coupon for my merchandise & the “RR” from them. I exceeded my coupon limit. I had more coupons than merchandise. I left my stuff at the counter, got my coupons back and told them I would never shop at Walgreens again. I went to CVS to make sure they didn’t have the same policy and they don’t. You can use as many coupons or their”ECB’s” as you need. Oh yea and CVS has EXCELLENT customer service care…
I just have to say that I shop at 4 local Walgreens (Henderson, NV) and the cashiers know me and have ALWAYS been nice. I don’t ever return things I got for free. I just think it’s wrong. You HAVE to check out at the cosmetics counter. They would rather you didn’t hold up the regular line with coupons. I always let people go in front of me and I never argue with the teller. If there is any problem, I just don’t buy it. You can always go back or try another store. It is not worth fighting over. They will never forget you if you are not nice. I have run into cashiers while out shopping at other stores and they treat me like friends. We chat and joke about my coupon binder. Life is too short to make enemies over coupons.
Can I use a coupon the same day it expires?
If anybody is still reading this, I had trouble with the Revlon Q, as well, and the manager, very nicely, told the cashier to just do it manually. The biggest problem I ran into was that they, apparently, have next week’s prices keyed in already. I bought two lipsticks last night and it rang up as 8.99/BOGO. Which made me short to use the $5 off $15 I got from the price scanner, so I had to scramble for fillers. On the bright side, I got the 2nd Reese’s for 44¢. 8-]
