Save-a-lot recently sent me a gift card to try them out, and I am sad to say that I was unhappy with the store. They did not have a lot of options in the way of healthy and organic foods. Mostly it was all processed foods, but they do have a few good deals on produce and meats. The store that I went to was so filthy, that I wasn’t really inclined to want to buy meat or produce there. So I used the gift card to pick up some essentials: Toilet Paper, Vinegar (for cleaning and cooking), Baking Soda, Brer Rabbit Unsulphered Molasses, and Brown Rice. If it had not been for the gift card, I probably would have turned right around and left the store because it was so unkept. I’ve seen a few videos online of nice/clean Save-a-lot stores, so I am guessing that my local store is not the norm. If you enjoy shopping at Save-a-lot I would love to hear some of your feedback.
Here were a couple of produce deals I saw:
Avocados .79
5 lb. Potatoes $2

Tell me more about the Jones B1G1 q. I printed the B1G a free sausage roll q a couple weeks ago, but our stores don’t carry the sausage rolls. Was it a different red plum q that you used? Thanks!
For some reason the site won’t accept my linky, so here’s my Hallmark shopping trip which only cost me 18 cents! http://girlstogrow.blogspot.com/2009/12/hallmark-savings.html
Tracey´s last blog ..Hallmark Savings
mine is gross to. I wouldn’t buy anything from there.
Hi there – would love to find the B1G1 Jones sausage, however cannot find it. Are you able to give what zip code you are looking under? or is that not ok? Merry Christmas!
I think the Jones coupon is gone now, because I don’t see it. Stephanie, I honestly don’t remember exactly what the coupon said. I just remember seeing it paired with a coupon deal on Southern Savers. If you haven’t checked out Southern Savers yet for coupon matches yet you’re missing out! http://www.SouthernSavers.com
I actually have some of those coupons (B1G1 Jones sausage) and I’d be happy to send a few out to people who would like them. They are the BEST natural sausage and my freezer is stocked! If you’d like a few coupons, contact me (email or leave a comment on my blog) and I’ll send them to you. Merry Christmas.
I would love some of those coupons and can email my address to you. I group up about a mile from the Jones farm and have eaten those sausages my entire life – yum! I was thrilled to see them in the stores with my recent move to NY. Please email me so we can exchange info away from the blog. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too! jesscoupon@gmail.com
I had to share with you how good God was to me on my shopping trip. I went to Publix and got 15 items that should have cost $40.81 for a total OOP of just 91 cents!!!!! What a blessing it has beento learn this couponing strategy and have all the wonderful bloggers out there telling their stories and helping others of us learn to do it. Teresa that is incredible!! WTG!! That’s better than me!
Save-A-Lot is less than 1 block from my house. They have cleaned up their store and are carrying alot more national brands than they used to. I love the meat deals they have(5 pkgs for $20). While it is not my store of choice for weekly shopping, I have no problem shopping there for last minute items in a pinch.
