My name is Crystal Collins, and I’ve been typing away at my keyboard here at TheThriftyMama.com since 2008. It’s here that I work to help my readers live more healthy and natural while saving money. Topics found here include online deals, coupon tips, green tips, organic deals, craft tutorials, freebies, recipes, money saving strategies frugal living tips and so much more!
I encourage everyone to live as natural as possible, but not to the point that it breaks the bank. That’s why on occasion you’ll see a deal for free ice cream. Besides, who could resist free ice cream anyway?
I’m very passionate about helping others, and I hope that you will find my in-depth posts insightful while enjoying the deals found in between.

My Story
In the spring of 2001 I met the man of my dreams while at college. Even though we were both studying music, we were opposites in so many ways. I came from a frugal lower class family that pinched pennies in every way possible, while he was used to spending and living large.
After a few years of marriage and working in the church, we both lost our jobs and had to leave our house. We had managed very little in the way of savings, so I knew things had to change and I dug back into my roots in thrifty living. After managing to drop our grocery bill to under $30 a week and starting to put some savings aside, people asked me how we were doing it. I decided to start a blog where I could help others do the same things I was doing. TheThriftyMama.com was born and has since become a great natural and thrifty resource for many people on the web.
I’m passionate about health, saving money, reading, musical theater, fitness, visiting new places and watching quirky British dramas. Currently I am homeschooling my two children while managing a full-time career online.
