This week’s frugal confession has to do with a empty travel cup and a bag of tea. I took a trip to Maryland this weekend for a blogging get-together. Airplanes don’t allow you to bring any liquid that is over 3 ounces, so I improvised.

I brought a travel mug and a tea bag of my favorite Tazo Organic Chai Tea. I always find I get a little anxious while flying, for whatever reason, and tea is so calming. I asked the flight attendant for hot water, and voila! I had a nice cup of tea to relax me during the flight. They did offer free in-flight beverages, but they were so small and mostly unhealthy. I’m a frugalholic that likes a large cup of hot Chai tea!

Great idea! Plus you get to enjoy your favorite type of tea. I’m going to do it the future. Thanks for the tip.

Once you are past security anything can come on the plane with you, including beverages, etc… over 3 ounces.

I love this idea! I have never heard of this great idea, I will have to do this next time I fly. I always take some sort of sippy cup or covered cup for my two children when we fly and ask for their drink to be put in it to avoid the issue of spilled drinks. Now I will have my own big girl drink cup to enjoy. :) Thanks for making this Mommy happy.

Plus? There is less waste. Every time I fly, drinks are served in a little, plastic cup. Think of all that trash! And no way are those cups biodegradable! I usually travel with my trusty Kleen Kanteen (I also have a SIGG, but the wider opening on the KK can accomodate ice or a tea bag), but I might just throw a small travel mug in my carry on from now on.

I wish I could find a small travel mug – about the size of a small take-away coffee cup.

I thought of your blog yesterday when I noticed my husband had thrown away the pretty pink gift bag that my daughter had just gotten a present in. (I noticed after I dumped something on top of it). I quick grabbed it, wiped it off and set it up to dry. Then I thought, woah, that might be a little over the top…. wiping off gross trash to re-use a gift bag!

Sounds pretty smart to me!

You came to Bloggy Bootcamp huh? I didn’t get to make it because I didn’t buy my ticket in time and then they were sold out! *kicks self in behind*

Actually I didn’t go to that. I went to Maryland to have a meeting pow wow with the SavvyBlogging.net team for the upcoming Savvy Blogging Summit in July.
