The Cutest Email From a Reader: You All Are Going to Love This!

in Couponing

This is an email I received from a reader named Amy.  I actually met Amy about a year ago in Walgreens and that is how she found my site.  Since then she has been a loyal reader who sends me an occasional email.  She ran into someone I know recently at Kroger and sent me an email about it.  It is the cutest email, that I just have to share with you all!

Its Amy..the one you met in Wags that day! (I hate saying that, but I don’t know how else to describe who I am) lol
Just a quick note to wish you a Happy New Year and tell you how much I enjoy reading about all your good deals every day. It really has changed my life for the better!

I was in Kroger today and I did pretty well.
(3) Bumblebee tuna pouches .79 ea
(2) Scotch Fur Fighter refills 3.29 ea.
(1) Kroger Brown n Season Chicken bag 1.50 (no coupon) And it was so gross..I’d never buy it again.
(3) All Small & Mighty detergent w/ Snuggle 32 oz. (on closeout) 3.17 ea. (reg 5.99)
(4) Willy Wonka Gummie Candies 1.00 ea.
Subtotal: $25.07
Coupons used:
(1) .50/2 Bumblebee tuna (Kroger Catalina)
(1) .75/1 Bumblebee tuna (Kroger Catalina)
(2) 4.00/1 Scotch Fur Fighter (IP’s)
(3) 2.00/1 All Small & Mighty
(4) 1.00/1 Willy Wonka Candy (IP’s-Coupons.com)

Paid $3.96 plus tax. Yay.

But here’s where it gets good! The cashier was sooo impressed that she turned to the ppl behind me (who were waiting patiently! lol) and said, “Can you believe that? Then she asked me how much my “before” total was. I told her the amt and then she told the ppl behind me! lol (I always write down my “before” and “after” totals)

Then…..the cute little bag boy said, “Wow…that is great. My sister does the same thing. She even has her own message board!” I said, “Oh, what is her name? I bet I’ve heard of it because I read them all”. And he said, “The Thrifty Mama”. I said, “Crystal Collins is your sister!?” lol  He said yes and then went on to say that while he thought I did pretty well, he sees YOU shop all the time at “Walmart and Walgreens“  (his exact words..LOL!) and “they pay her to shop there!” (Yes, it was your brother!)

Thats when I told him… “RIGHT ON…thats how its done”! I told him that YES…Crystal definitely beats the pants off of me when it comes to saving and she is my idol…I want to be just like her when I grow up! It was so cute. He is such a doll face and obviously so proud of his big sissy.Just wanted to let you  know I met him and how adorable he is. He didn’t offer to take my groceries out tho. Shucks! I was gonna give him a great big fat tip!!  Let him know that!

Again, thanks for all you do. It is truly appreciated and I remember you in my prayers daily.
All the best, Amy

To my brother: Boy, take that woman’s groceries out to her car! icon smile The Cutest Email From a Reader: You All Are Going to Love This! Thanks for the great email Amy! It made my day! You just never know who you will run into while shopping!

Crystal, I can’t believe you posted this…you crack me up! : D Ok, in my favorite bag boy, “B’s”, defense…it was wicked cold that day. Everyone in the store had a red nose and cheeks. You just KNOW that poor boy didn’t offer to take out my stuff because he wanted to stay in that warm store for awhile! lol : D Poor thing…I dont blame him. It took my breath away just getting back to the car. : 0 (and he probably toted groceries all day for like .50 cents per customer or something crazy like that!) : (
Btw, I saw him again yesterday. I think I will always know him by that cute little knit cap he wears. lol : D He wasnt my bagboy but I’m gonna request him the next time for sure! (if he’s there) I bet he’s very popular there. He was in the next lane and was just chatting it up with the customers. (you just know he was telling them about you and how much better you do at shopping, Crystal! LOL!) SO personable! I hope he makes great tips! : D
Have a great night and many blessings to you, Amy

OK – Obviously B’s lack of gentlemanly assistance has cost him dearly! Yep! As a blood relative, I would encourage him to never – ever – bypass helping a lady in need! The tip is never going to be the issue, it is a matter of doing the right thing, regardless. He is young and still in training!

I love things like that!! warm fuzzy all over!
(and where do you all live that you actually even HAVE people offering to take your groceries out for you, lol!?) The only place that ever happens for me here is at Alberstons, and they are not allowed to take tips (at least that is what I was told the last time I tried!)

…And, wow, ya never know who’s letters you might read on the Net, too! LOL!!! I met Amy this past year and she has become a dear friend ~ via e-mails & coupon trades. (I sure it’s her!! Same Amy!! I know her style in writing!) Amy turned me on to your blog, Crystal, and mentions you, often, in her e-mails. Amy is MY hero!!! (LOL!!… seriously!!) She told me about the meeting at Wags, some time ago!! Great story, this one is, too! Thank you, Amy, and thank YOU, Crystal, for all the money you’ve helped me save. I have never done so well (saving) since meeting Amy and reading yours & a few other blogs. I am very grateful to all of you. Many blessings, Jude ;)

“…I have never done so well (saving) since meeting Amy and…”. I meant “I never saved so much BEFORE meeting…” Sorry that didn’t come out right the first time. Where’s that edit button when ya need it, huh??!! LOL. (Sorry!!) — Jude
