Thank you so much for breaking down the Aveeno deal. I looked at earlier and just gave up until I could try again later.

I don’t think you can use the $10 off coupon on the $6 and $7 Aveeno items since it specifies for the Postively Ageless line. At least at my store, none of those were priced that low. Correct me if I’m wrong….

LJ, you are right!

The $10 coupon is for the $18 products only!

You could still use the same scenario that Crystal has given but you would need to use 4 of the $2/1 coupons (if you have access to 2 computers).

You would still buy 3 $6 products and 1 $7 product!

This is actually cheaper than using the $10 coupon.

Your total would be $25 minus the 4 coupons ($8). Your Out of pocket would only be $7 instead of $9…then you would still get the $10 in ECB’s!
Hope this helps!

I noticed you changed it in your scenario to mention that the $10 coupon can be used on any Aveeno product. Is this confirmed? I have cashiers who read the wording and stick to it. How would I convince them it works? Even if it works, isn’t that using the coupon in a way it wasn’t intended to be used? Or did you verify this directly with the company? I would love to use it on the $6 and $7 products that I actually use, but I don’t want to do anything “unethical.”

Lissa,
I can’t figure out how using the $2 coupons (which I DO have 4 of) would make this deal $7 OOP. Even with using the $4/$20, I still come up with $13 OOP. Can you explain how you came up with your total? Thanks!

One scenario I plan to use includes this:

3 Positively ageless sunscreens $9 each
2 Loreal HIP products at $3.89 each
——

$34.78 total
-$4/$20 Beauty Q
-$10 off of 3 Aveeno Q
-$3.89 for BOGO HIP product
-2 $2 off Loreal HIP product Q
-$3/$15 purchase
= $10 OOP or less if you have ECB
Get 10 ECB back

Others on HCW have done this just fine. The coupon does say lotion or sunscreen.

I will throw some other filler in if I need to if I can’t find the Loreal cheap enough.

Just got back and I did the deal I listed above but didn’t get the Loreal because it was all $10 or more.

I subbed in the Bayer Crystals ($1 tear pad found on the display) and a Playskool plate thing that was on clearance. I received a $5/$30 when I was there.

I paid $12.08 out of pocket with tax (I was out of ECBs) and received $12 ECBs back.

There are plenty of Aveeno Positively Ageless products under $18. The ad says ALL Positively Ageless products, they are just highlighting the $$ ones. If you want to play it safe, get the sunscreen or cleanser (that was $9.99).

I hope that helps someone!

I just got back from trying the Tresemme deal and they refused to take the coupon because it didn’t scan. Did anyone else have problems with the coupon?

Reply

thethriftymama April 19, 2009 at 8:39 pm

Lauren – mine didn’t scan tonight either, but they pushed them through. If a coupon doesn’t or won’t scan for some reason, they do have a right to refuse it. Maybe you could try another CVS, or another cashier later?

I had a problem with the tresemme the first time, but it was because you have to buy the 24 hr body collection with those coupons. but there are a good amount to select fro from the 24hr so try that.

Has anyone noticed the totals on your rec. after doing the aveeno? I got $27 my first purchase, now its says I need $23 more to reach the EB. It says the limit is one so maybe it is 2?

I bought the Crest Pro Health toothpaste as stated above (free), and then I went to Walgreens where I found a rebate form for a free Crest Pro health toothpaste with proof of purchase on pull off stack in front of the toothpastes at Walgreens. Now I get it free twice.

SOme of the Other Web Sites are saying that the Tresemme Q was not legit. I used mine and my cashier took them. But if they are not good I’d like to know so that I can go make good on my Boo-Boo.
