The following review is by Bobby, aka Mr. TTM.
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition is a really great device that is the perfect size to take with you on trips. It functions really well and is easy to read with the E-Ink display that really is just like reading a piece of paper. The three different font sizes can be toggled between very easily by the reader. There are only two issues that I have with it. First, the eBook library doesn’t have a very big selection of books that I’m interested in. I searched for several different eBooks, all of which I easily found elsewhere, but was unable to find for the Sony Reader.
Second, you have to connect it to your computer via USB cable to move books to and from your reader. I realize it would be asking a lot for a pocket sized reader to have 3g, but wifi really would suffice. I don’t like the idea of having to wait to get back to my computer before I can download the next book in a series or even something by the same author.
If you’re looking for a digital reading device that is inexpensive, and small enough to keep in your purse or other small bag, then this would be a good product for you. Overall I really do like the device, and maybe we can expect wifi in the next model.
Note from The Thrifty Mama: I’ve rarely seen my husband read a book since we’ve been married. He’s just not an avid reader, unlike myself. But ever since receiving this device he has been glued to it. Even as I write this, he is sitting next to me and reading a book. All I can say is, I am in awe!!
