Better WiFi Connections: hField’s Wi-Fire is a range-extending USB device that enables you to connect to WiFi networks as far away as 1000 feet, 3x the typical Wi-Fi distance. MacObserver said “A must-have accessory.” The New York Times reported “A Souped-Up Wireless Connection.” Engadget called the Wi-Fire “Worth every penny”.
The following review is by Bobby, aka Mr. TTM:
I’m sure you’ve heard that first impressions are everything. Well, my first impression of the Wi-Fire was that this thing is ugly. It looks like something out of an old James Bond movie, and I felt like an undercover CIA agent when I was using Wi-Fire. The best part? The Wi-Fire overcame my bad first impression and has completely amazed me. Not only do I have a better signal to my wireless network, but I actually have more networks to choose from because the range on this piece of hardware is unreal.
Range is not the only thing that this powerhouse boasts. I have a Macbook with a built in 802.11n wireless card, but the Wi-Fire is so much faster at sending and receiving data that I may even allow myself to be seen using this out in public. So if you are always having trouble getting a good WiFi connection or the speed is not what you need from your internal wireless card the Wi-Fire is a great solution. Maximum range and speed all offered in this hideous looking package. It’s a good trade off, I think. Maybe Wi-Fire will be available with more color options in the future.

Hubby would love it. We are college students who live in an apartment building that offers wi-fi. Only problem is that we live on the top floor in the corner and the wi-fi thing-a-ma-jig is in the office basement in the opposite corner. We typically only get “fast” internet late at night when there aren’t so many people using it. We usually head to the library if we need to do research and it would be so awesome to stay in our pajamas whenever we needed to write papers or whatnot!
