A Day of Rest

Tuesday Testimony

I absolutely loved the ending to Ordering Your Private World by Gordan MacDonald.  This is something that just isn’t talked about enough.  Even in our own churches, the weekend is the busiest time.  I strongly believe that it is important to have a day set aside for separating ourselves from the daily rush of the world, so that we can rest and devote time to the Father.  Does this day need to be on Saturday or Sunday?  In my opinion, no.  What matters is that we have a day of rest.  And as the author says, it’s not about being legalistic or setting a whole bunch of rules like the Pharisees and Sadducees did.  It’s about resting, and accepting the gift of a day of rest that God wants us to have.

As a mom with young kids, I never really get a day off.  But I do need to do my best to be devoting a day where I can rest and devote extra time in prayer and worship. This leaves me rejuvenated and better prepared to face each week.

So how many of you made it all the way through the book with me?  I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, and, as always, prayer requests are welcome here too.
