Do you have stale bread?

Have you ever gone to get some bread to make sandwiches and someone left the bag open? Instead of trying to hunt and track down who did it (with everyone denying it of course), I’ve got something you can do with that bread.

This is a super yummy recipe and it’s actually quite simple. Give it a try. I purposefully stale my bread now so I can make it.

Bread Pudding
Ingredients:

6 slices day-old bread
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Start out by making a simple custard mix, a lot like for French toast (eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla), and pour it over a 9 x 13 pan of stale bread scraps that you’ve torn up. You want it good and wet–I usually press down so the bread gets well soaked. Raisins or chocolate are a great addition.
Then you bake it in a low oven (325) until done. It can be really nice with some brown sugar sprinkled on top to make a bit of a crust.

Yum Yum! Eat it up!
