For the past few weeks I have been testing out a new site called Weekly Cinema.  You can sign up for .15 cents and you receive a free movie ticket to try them out.  It’s then just $19.99 a month and you get 4 movie tickets, plus other offers and deals on occasion (last month they had a free popcorn coupon).

Plus, they let you refer your friends and you also receive an extra free movie ticket.

How it works:

1. Sign up with Weekly Cinema, and the free movie ticket codes are posted to your account at the beginning of the month (only 1 is posted at first with a .15 cent charge to your card).

2.  In your account it shows you how many tickets you have to redeem.  Hit redeem and you receive a code for a movie ticket that doesn’t expire for a couple of months.

3. Then you go to Fandango.com (make sure you have a registered account with them).

4. Pick the movie you want to see, and go through the order process.

5. Check the box that says you have a Fandango promotional code.

6. Check out at Fandango with your Weekly Cinema promo code  and pay nothing for your movie ticket(s).

At first I was worried this site was a scam, and I wanted to be absolutely sure it wasn’t before posting about this deal.  It’s just such an amazing bargain!  But so far my husband and I have gotten four movie tickets this way.  Bobby took our son to see Despicable Me, and keeps insisting I need to take our daughter to see it, too.

With tickets being so cheap, I can afford to take the kids out to a movie now.  With Weekly Cinema the cost is roughly $5 per movie ticket (4 per month @ $19.99) and you can get additional coupons, tickets and freebies depending on how you utilize the program.

Have you used Weekly Cinema? Share your thoughts!

Caveat:  Make sure that Fandango.com covers theaters in your area before you sign-up for this!

This sounds like a great option for folks who don’t have a second-run theater nearby. Do the ticket codes roll over to the next month? I’m wondering what you do when a month goes by with nothing good in the theater…

Yes they do roll over!

So when you use these “codes” on Fandango, you don’t have to pay the “processing fee” either? Just absolutely free?

That’s correct Selene. My check outs at Fandango have been absolutely free.

Didn’t work for me.. neither of my local theaters are partnered with Fandango, so I’d have to travel farther to see a movie. Seems like a great deal for those who like to go out for movies.. I guess they plan to get you with the snack stand.

Just a heads up. This is from the Terms & Conditions part of the web page:

“If the Client redeems a free movie ticket, the trial period is voided and the Client will be automatically billed the regular subscription fee. If a movie ticket is redeemed after the trial period, the Client will be billed the regular subscription fee.”

So, if you redeem the “free” ticket, you will be charged the $19.99 with no refunds. So unless you are planning to continue paying, do not redeem the ticket. Having said that, I think that I am going to try this out since ticket prices are ridiculous now.

If the ticket + convenience charge is $14 or under, the ticket is free.
The movie codes are only valid for up to 3 months.

(* I love reading the fine print, LOL *)
