004 300x225 Better Than Free Pasta at Kroger

All of the Barilla pastas are on sale 4/$3 this week at Kroger.  Use the .50/1 coupons from the 3/29 SS insert (they will double), and get these for FREE plus possible overage.  Last night I bought 10 boxes, used 10 coupons, and got $2.50 in overage that I used to go towards a loaf of Arnold bread. Sweet deal!  It’s definitely time to stock up on pasta!  Remember to get a Rain Check if they sell out of even one type of Barilla pasta.

Thanks Megan!

A few questions– which SS insert? and how did you get 5 coupons? Did you buy 5 Sunday papers? thanks…

It’s the 3/29 insert. And there are a ton of ways to get multiple coupons. Check out my tips here: http://www.thethriftymama.com/2009/01/are-you-really-saving-money-buying-coupons.html

My store only triples 3 of the same coupons so I would have to split it up if I wanted 10. That’s not usually a problem but I wouldn’t be able to have all the overage in one transaction, like you did. Great deal, thanks!

This wasn’t advertised in my Kroger sale paper…is it just a deal you spotted in the store? I was about to order some coupons, but now I’m worried they might not be on sale at my store.

A reader emailed me about it so I went and checked it out last night. Call your store and ask them if they have the sale going on. Let us know how it turns out!

So, what is your local Kroger? At the corner of 278 and 61? Have you had any problems there? My coworker and I have run into a couple of problems with them there. And where do you “dumpster dive”? We would like to know where we could recycle ours and perhaps get a few more inserts while we are there. lol

I’m actually in Cobb County now. When I lived in Dallas I had no problems at that Kroger. And I get inserts from the dumpsters in front of the Kroger next to Kmart that is on 278.

Hello, I am kind of new to coupons… so I was wondering what do you mean they will double? Do you ask the cashier to ring them through twice? How does that work? Do other stores do this as well? Thanks so much!

The Thrifty Mama here: Some stores double up to a certain amount. Kroger doubles up to .50 cents, meaning .50 cents becomes $1, .25 becomes .50 ect… It is done automatically by the registers. Good luck!!

I read on another blog somewhere that “dumpster diving” is illegal and you could be arrested. I had never heard that before. Has anyone heard that before? I’ve thought of doing it, but I sure don’t want to be arrested! (Our local recycling dumpster happens to be right across the street from the police station! LOL.)

As long as you don’t climb in the dumpster you are fine. Anything you can reach without climbing in is fair game. Just check your local laws on it though.
