Owning your own aloe vera plant puts the power of nature in your hands.  They are low maintenance and very easy to grow even for beginning gardeners.  Enjoy this article on how to best harvest aloe leaves.  It includes a great photo tutorial on slicing and skinning the leaves for use.

Use the aloe topically for sunburns or sensitive-skin facials.  You can also make a refreshing beverage.  Try aloe vera juice or aloe vera lemonade on a warm summer day.  I’ve also heard that if you have gel leftover from a recipe or beauty treatment you can freeze for later.
