It’s the week of Christmas, and hopefully that means you have finished all of your gift buying (achem).  Now we move onto thinking about Christmas morning breakfast, or what to make for the holiday parties we are hosting.  Here are some of my favorite breakfast ideas for Christmas morning.

1. Cinnamon Rolls

Nothing says Christmas morning like homemade Cinnamon rolls (in my humble opinion). My favorite recipe to use is from The Pioneer Woman Cookbook, but I modify it by using whole wheat flour and Sucanat as a sweetener. If you don’t have this cookbook, here’s a good recipe:  The Happy Housewife: Easy No-Rise Cinnamon Rolls.

2. Mini Apple Pies

These are delicious, and have that wonderful apple flavor we all like so much during the holidays.  I like making these the homemade hot pocket way, as it is so easy and everyone feels like they are getting an extra special treat. Find this awesome recipe here: Heavenly Homemakers: Mini Apple Pies.

3. Apple and Oats Breakfast Pudding

If you need something fast and really easy to make that will also be a huge hit, this is the recipe for you.  If you don’t have apples, you can try substituting another fruit like peaches, blueberries and more!  Find this recipe on my site: Apple and Oats Breakfast Pudding Recipe.

4, Cranberry Orange Muffins

I don’t know about you, but I think cranberries in a muffin are pure delight!  These muffins are fabulous, and a great compliment to a holiday meal.  Even if you aren’t a fan of cranberries, the sweet tartness they add to muffins along with the orange is sure to be a hit!  See this recipe here: Life As Mom: Cranberry Orange Muffins.

5. Pancakes

Get down to basics with a simple breakfast of pancakes.  You can easily make pancakes from scratch with flour (preferably whole wheat), eggs, baking soda, baking powder and some sugar.  And if you want to shake things up just a little bit, make Christmas Pancakes with neat shapes, or do Pancake and Sausage Muffins.

These are some of my favorite breakfast ideas for Christmas morning, what are some of yours?

One Christmas Eve we were snowed in, and I got bored and made Pecan Rolls. The next Christmas, the kids swore that I ALWAYS make pecan rolls, so I did every year until they had their own places. One year they were made out of frozen dough because the dog ate the homemade dough while we were at church….
