first aid antiseptic balm recipe diy Natural and Thrifty in 365: #237 Homemade Antiseptic Ointment

Many of us were raised to reach for over-the-counter antibiotic creams to treat minor scrapes and cuts. You can control the quality of the ingredients and put nature to work for you with a homemade batch of first-aid antiseptic ointment.  With tea tree, lavender and lemon essential oils the natural qualities of this balm are antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antibiotic and even analgesic for minor pain relief.

If you can’t find the ingredients locally consider ordering from Mountain Rose Herbs.  I checked today and they have all of the ingredients for this recipe in stock.

Natural & Thrifty in 365 is a year-long series of 365 tips for living more green, natural and healthy while saving money.
