Who doesn’t love some good old fashioned maple syrup? But I don’t think we like that price tag, do we? Here’s a simple way that you can make your own syrup at home and save some money. You can use organic ingredients so that your syrup is completely organic if you wish.

Homemade Maple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups raw sugar (turbinado)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or sucanat
  • 1 tsp maple extract

Directions:

Simmer water and sugars in a saucepan for about 15-20 minutes, until you get a syrupy consistency. Remove from heat, and then stir in the maple extract. Cool slighlty and use right away or save for later. Store it in your saved glass containers, and keep refrigerated.
