Natural and Thrifty in 365: #142 Homemade Snack Bars

It never fails that my children are always hungry when we are out of the house. Instead of visiting a drive-thru we would bring granola bars and fruit. The fruit doesn’t always travel well and the granola bars can be expensive as well as having less-than-desirable ingredients. Then I found this recipe for Baked Oatmeal Snack Bars.
Since we make them at home we control the ingredients and this recipe is adjustable to just about anyone’s food sensitivities or preferences. I keep the bars individually wrapped in the fridge and then just throw the bag in the car for our day’s adventures.
I think the next batch might just have chocolate chips sprinkled into the mix. What would you do to make this recipe fit your family?
