Thursday Thriftiness – Make Your Own Syrup

by Crystal Collins on August 14, 2008

in Home and Garden

In a saucepan simmer 1 cup water, 2 cups sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar for 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in one teaspoon of maple extract.

Makes enough for a week of pancakes(for the whole family). Refrigerate what you don’t use, and reheat in the microwave before you serve.

Thanks to my friend Kelly for this recipe. I’ve done this several times and it is so good. Cheap, too!!! So long Aunt Jemima, hello homemade!!!

I ran out of syrup one day with no way to go to the store for more so I looked up how to make your own syrup.
I tried this and it came out sooo delicious! Thanks for the recipe. :)

Can’t wait to try this when my students make stuff for the Pancake Party. Thanks for sharing!
