We’ve been using this recipe for several months and love it! The only problem, is that it clumps together and you kind of have to poke at it with a knife every couple of days…

I heard this too- I was using a similar recipe a few years back and started noticing residue being left behind and found out it was the borax- that stuff is toxic if it’s ingested. So I switched it up and use a borax free recipe- with salt, citric acid and baking soda…..works great with no residue!!

I have been making my own with a slightly different recipe for a few months. I use baking soda instead of salt and citric acid. I am happy with it, for the most part. sometimes the pans have to be scrubbed again. I will definately try vinegar for a rinse aid. Thanks for the tip!

Tammy, we each have to decide the ingredients we use in our homes. With that in mind, here is an article that I have read (and read the support links for) that helped me make a decision on this matter for my home.

I’ve been using this recipe for several months now, except, I’ve been using 5 packets of unsweeted lemonade (kool-aid brand) instead of the citric acid. Where can you buy citric acid? I’ll have to compare the price :) My dishes have been BEAUTIFUL and this is a very cost effective recipe. I also put vinegar from time to time in the rinse aid.

I just bought citric acid at Walmart. It’s in the canning section.

Thanks for sharing this recipe! I, for one, have been looking around for different alternatives to use as cleanser. I just might have to give this one a try. I know I already have a few of the ingredients. Just have to find a few more :D

Oh, and I can relate to the picture… I’m sure that would have been my son a couple of years ago :D
