Opening the curtains or blinds in your home is an easy way to go green and help save money on your electric and heating bills.  The sunlight will not only reduce your need for interior daytime lighting but can also add warmth to your home during winter.  Those of us in the south also benefit from the boost of vitamin D from the sun exposure even while we’re cooped up indoors during the winter months.

Are you serious? LOL! Like who doesn’t know to regulate heat/light with windows and curtains? ;-P

Don’t forget to add some inexpensive weather stripping! I took a lit candle and help it in front of all the borders of the windows in our home…couldn’t believe the drafts coming in. Time to weather strip!

Windows block vitamin D from being absorbed by the body.

Kris, thank you for writing that. You are correct that windows block the UVB rays that allow our bodies to create vitamin D. Thank you for letting me learn something new today. :)
