Salt lifts red wine stains 300x289 Natural and Thrifty in 365: #334 Salt Lifts Red Wine from Carpets

Red wine has a pretty nasty reputation for causing some of the most persistent carpet stains.  If you spill red wine on your carpet, immediately cover the spill in a thick layer of salt.  Let this sit for a few hours.  You’ll be able to vacuum up the salt and take the wine with it.  Apparently the salt draws the wine completely out of the carpet and leaves nothing behind.
