Continuing on with my experiment of buying in bulk, this week I made an order on Amazon. I bought the following:
- Chia Seeds 5 Pounds (Chemical Free)
- Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 15-Ounce Unit (Pack of 2)
Amazon gave me personalized daily deals on these items (I always check the daily deals), so I bought them. I used gift cards that I earned with Swagbucks, so the entire order was FREE!
Chia seeds are great for their Omega-3′s and Fiber, and has some incredible nutritional value and health benefits. Search it on Swagbucks to find out some great information the benefits of Chia Seeds. The coconut oil is something I love cooking with, and use it for almost everything. See some of the benefits of Coconut Oil here.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone, and be sure to share your deals and steals you got this week!

Will you let us know your trial chia recipes please? I got some a year ago and I never used them all up – I am sure I have to toss and restart – but I would love to know what you do with yours.
That coconut oilrocks. My daughter has severe atopic dermatitis and we rub her down everynight with that and she smells so good and no more itchy dry skin. It helps and is so much better for her skin.
I love, love, LOVE chia seeds. We use them mostly in our smoothies! They really help to thicken! And don’t even get me started on coconut oil — two of our favorite uses are for making popcorn (google the Wilderness Family Naturals youtube video for seasoned popcorn….YUM!) and as a “butter” spread on toast.
That is a great idea, to use Swagbucks to buy healthy food items at Amazon! I just joined Swagbucks myself, so I may have to try that!

I’ve been trying to decide what to do with my Swagbucks since I no longer need to buy diapers (Wahoo). This is such a great idea to add more organic foods into my family’s diet for FREE!
This is probably a silly question…but does the coconut oil taste like coconut?? I love it, but DH hates it.
What do all of you do with the chia seeds? I’ve seen people put them in smoothies and in oatmeal, etc. Can you bake with them?

Yes, you can use them in breads of all kinds. They are good in banana breads, pumpkin breads, you name it! I also like to use a scoop in some lemonade, let is sit for about 30 minutes so that the seeds gel and you have a refreshing healthy, jelly drink!
Ok, so where do you start? I mean if you want to start buying in bulk do you research recipes first? Are there items that are a necessity to start out with?
I’m trying to wrap my brain around it all…Maybe too quickly at that but I really wanna start…Just don’t know where…
