My husband and I went on the first date we’ve had in a very long time. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I don’t think we’ve been out without the kids for at least a year. Pitiful? Yes.

Well we finally got a date, and we pulled out all the stops. First we went to Zoo Atlanta. At first it was strange being there without the children, but we soon got into a groove and enjoyed our time together looking at the animals.

When you first go in, you see all these flamingos waiting to greet you. It was so funny when one flamingo flapped its wings, made a noise and then they all joined in. They all proceeded to head back up to higher ground after this. Bobby (mi esposo)  then said “Okay guys, break is over. Time to go back to work.” You probably had to be there, but it was hilarious!

Here’s the kangaroo just hanging out. I think he looks relaxed, don’t you?

How fun it must be to just hang in a tree all day! If I was hanging like this, my legs would fall asleep, so I wonder if the snake’s entire body falls asleep?

These guys are so smart to hide amongst the leaves.

And this is as close as I ever want to get to a Komodo Dragon.

After the Zoo, we had an amazing dinner at a classy restaurant in Atlanta. Then we went next door to the movie theater and caught a flick.

Normally, this thrifty Mama would not dare do all of this on one date. But I was able to save money by getting Zoo tickets on Groupon, a restaurant certificate on Restaurant.com (use code DEAL to save 80%) and the movie tickets through a Fandango deal on Living Social.

But, the night was most definitely priceless.

Looks like you had a great time! I hope you’ll be inspired to “ditch the kids” more often – even if it’s just for a trip to the grocery store ;)

What a fun date! Did you know for those in Gwinnett County you can check out an Atlanta Zoo pass at the library? I am still trying to get one as it is returned!
My husband and I went on an amazing date this weekend too–we went to a “Weekend to Remember” marriage conference by Family Life. It is so important to be intentional about making our marriages thrive. We liked the conference so much I became a group coordinator, which means I have a code that I can share that enables you to attend the conference 1/2 price! Can’t put a price on an awesome marriage! Anyway, there are conferences all over the US. You can use this link to get your discount:

Happy Dating your best friend! (also a great thing for engaged couples)

I’m glad you were able to go out! If you ever need a sitter, let me know and maybe you can drop them off for a play date with my kids while you have a date!
