Scroll down and leave a comment or linky to show off all the bargains you got this past week!
I went to the farmer’s market and spent $20 on all of the above. These were all grown without pesticides, so I can’t believe I got such a great deal. If I had gone down to the pumpkin patch at the local Church, who knows where my pumpkins would have originally come from, and it would probably have cost me at least $20 for just two pumpkins.
By going to the farmer’s market this morning, I have the satisfaction of having local, semi-organic pumpkins for a great price. The farmer also sold me this squash, that he called a “kushan” (sp?). I can’t find any info online about this, so I think I may be spelling it wrong. If you know what it is, please fill me in. UPDATE: Thanks for all those that let me know it is actually a “cushaw” squash. This thing is as big as my two-year old daughter!! He told me the taste is a cross between pumpkin and sweet potato. Doesn’t that sound delish? I can’t wait to make it down into a puree, and make some pies out of it.
Did you know pumpkin puree is really easy to make? And it saves me so much money by making it myself. I will make enough for a year and freeze it so that I can make pumpkin breads and pies all year long.
How did you all do this week? Go ahead, show off all those awesome deals you got! Please link directly to your posts, and I ask that you do not link to giveaways or posts mainly promoting affiliate deals. Let’s encourage one another with our thrifty ventures. Thanks!
Please note that I do believe in supporting local Churches, but I also believe in supporting local farmers as well to get quality fruits in vegetables for consuming.
