This week I received an online order from Alice.com and Amazon.com. My total was $3.16! See more details on this shopping trip here. This week we also picked up cheese, eggs and milk from a local farmer. That wasn’t cheap, but still a better price than buying organic from the grocery store. Total cost for that was $32 for eggs, milk and cheese (stocked up a little). I’ve made room in our budget and cut out a lot of things (as you have seen by our recent shopping trips) so we could buy local organic. We thoroughly enjoyed petting all of the animals and hanging out at the farm!
See more photos on my Flickr Page here.
The only other spending was done by my husband this week, and he went to the store to get .88 cents Organic whipping cream at Kroger for making homemade ice cream. More to come in the homemade ice cream department.
So what did you get this week?

Oh my, what farm did you go to? I want so badly to be able to purchase these things from a farm, but so far I haven’t found one locally. I think I’d be willing to drive a bit, though! (I don’t remember where you’re located, so maybe your farm is out of reach, I live in So Cal.)
I’m in Georgia, so that may be a bit of a stretch for you, sorry
Have you searched localharvest.org yet? It’s a great place to search for local farms and co-ops.
haha! I think I recognize where you got your eggs, milk and cheese! DD’s and I visited this place two weeks ago! What a great place! DD still talks about how mommy “milked the cow!”
I live in Cobb County so I would LOVE to know what farm you use. Our homeschool year ends on Tuesday. After a quick vacation, farms and farmers markets are the my summer list of place in and around Atlanta to visit.
Your kiddos are adorable! What a fun family trip. Did you buy raw (non-pasteurized) milk? We bought some this week for the first time from a local farmer. It’s so good!
I love your post. Since the Real Foods Challenge I’ve been following (http://notdabblinginnormal.wordpress.com/2010/03/02/a-few-resources-for-the-real-food-challenge/) I have cut [almost] all processed and canned foods out. I have been making meals virtually from scratch, buying organic dairy and meats and shopping at the local farmers market for vegetables and my budget has actually decreased. I now realize that we eat less because the quality is so much better. REAL food fills you up.
Your children are adorable!!
I’m excited to see your ice cream making tips. I made some for the first time this weekend and it was delicious, but actually too rich. I am going to try some lighter (and healthier) next time.
I need to find a good farm around us for this! And, your kiddos are adorable!
