Just a note: you might not be able to use the $1 coupon on the 99 cent bliss bars. My clerk didn’t let me.
Thrifty Mama, have you written anything about target coupon policy? I’d love to know more about it – this is a new store for me and I’m running into a lot of problems with clerks who don’t understand coupons (even perfectly straightforward ones.) It would be helpful to know what I should expect.
Emily’s last blog post..Free chocolate
Emily, if you email corporate asking them for their policy they will email it back to you. Then you can print it out and take it with you. This is the best way to have your proof with you. Call this number and have them email it to you: 1.800.440.0680
Tell The cashier at target to adjust the coupon to 99 cents. I work there and the (gstl) GUEST SERVISE TEAM LEAD said that is the way to do it to get your items free.
Just wanted to let you know the Ritz Target Q isn’t going to work for the Ritz Bitz (which were the only Ritz on sale for $2 at my store). Those were the only ones that had cheese or peanut butter at my store. They were 7.? oz and the coupon is for 14.5 oz or larger. The regular Ritz will work and they are $2.54. So $.54 for them isn’t bad.
MMcKenna’s last blog post..CVS 5/10
Emily, it depends on the cashier. I’ve never had consistency at Target with coupons. On Saturday, I made my husband go through one line with the Target Hershey’s Bliss coupon and I went through another lane with the same coupon. My cashier deducted $1 from my total for the candy bar. My husband’s cashier did not, telling him, “It’s only for a BAG of Hershey’s Bliss.” I’ve also had problems stacking coupons at Target. I tried to use a Mott’s applesauce Target coupon stacked with a manufacturer’s coupon. They scanned the Target coupon first and when they went to scan the manufacturer’s coupon, it wouldn’t accept it. Since then (I think I read this on this blog), I’ve made sure to hand them the manufacturer’s coupons FIRST, then all the Target coupons. That always works.
Target here is so inconsistant with what they will or will not do that I have just about given up going there with any coupons at all.
The last few times they wouldn’t even adjust the coupon down to the price (when the coupon was for more than the price of the product) and wouldn’t let me use them….one even would not let me use the Soft n Dri coupon because she said I couldn’t get it for FREE??!!
June’s last blog post..How I Organize My Coupons
Can you use the Gold-n-Plum $1.50 printable with the ones one sale for $3.29? The coupon says it’s for family size packs and these aren’t family size. ???
Amy, I would try it. If they don’t accept the coupon, then just tell them that you don’t want the chicken and have them take it off. A few months ago they had coupons for Sutton & Dodge steaks. The coupon specifically said it was for STEAKS, but they took it every time I bought the Sutton & Dodge cut up stew meat chunks — which, technically, was not a steak.
FYI – my Target had the Kraft natural cheese for $1.99
You can buy the family pack of Chicken for $5.99 on sale making it about $3.50 after coupons which isn’t too bad….
Tammi’s last blog post..Update…..Kraft Coupons…..Target Coupon Matchups
Just FYI–I saw over at Hip2Save today that you have to do the Swiffer refill thing in one transaction (which I don’t know if you can do at Target and get all 3 gift cards). Someone called Swiffer and they said that all of the refills had to be purchased at one time and be on one receipt in order to qualify for the rebate. Bummer–I was going to do it today, but I am glad I found that out before I went to Target!
Hey Thrifty Mama,
I just tried for the first time (the closest Target is 45 miles away)shopping at Targets with all the deals and coupons matched up for many of the same items you purchased and I think I did pretty well. The total savings was for $70.51 which brought my total to $60.44. I was hoping to do better, but I’m not complaining. I do however have a problem that within seconds of my handing over my coupons the manager rushed up to the register to examine each and every coupon I redeemed and was quite perturbed with the whole situation. I could tell he was not happy at all with what I was doing. So being there are 3 Target stores within that 45 mile range, I guess I’ll just have to find one that can not get bent out of shape for redeeming coupons. And if I’m going to drive 45 miles to shop I’m going to make it worth my trip, a little courtesy on the side would be nice as well.
I have found better success with a teenager as the cashier. I do scope out who will be ringing me up prior to getting in line. But the most frustrating thing to me is the fact that we are not doing anything illegal. They are not losing money because 90% of the time they are manufacture coupons. So they will get reimbursed. Unless I don’t really understand how coupons work on their end! And fyi I love your blog! It’s nice to have other people to chat about things like this. I now call couponing (for lack of a word) my hobby!
I just called the number at the bottom of the Swiffer rebate form and was told that the refills may be purchased in multiple transactions, as long as they are within the specified time frame (4/1-5/15). So…multiple receipts will be accepted.
I couldnt get the quaker oats coupon to work on my printer, even after downloading java and restarting. anybody have any pointers?
Oh Gosh, indeed it all depends on a cashier and the manager on duty. I tried to purchase Bliss bars and the floor manager told me, quote: it is common sense that the bag of Bliss is meant for the coupon…Why would we want for you to have it free?!
Hilarious people, aren’t they? It’s like they personally will use money by deducting a buck from my total…
Anyway, I still praise Target, its coupons and you Thrifty Mama for my savings (over 75% today for buying Nabisco, Ritz, Kraft cheese, Crystal Light).
I also was “questioned” about the bliss bars and the pringles and the quaker granola bites, but I simply pointed out that the “Target coupon” itself did not specify a size. The poor frustrated manager couldn’t argue, so he told his cashier to just give them to me anyway.
Tanya, you are right about them acting like it’s actually taking their own personal money to use my coupon. I understand they have a job to do–my husband was in retail for 22 years– but harrassing me about saving a few bucks is not in that job description. If Target doesn’t want to make good on their own store coupons then for goodness sake they should not make them available to us. But then of course it would cost them all of us Thrifty customers, whom I’m sure bring in much of their business.
Yeah, I made my target trip today!
I didnthave any trouble using any of my coupons. I was able to buy the .99 cent bliss bars and 3 bottles of salad dressing and a bunch of other stuff. All in all I spent $14 OOP and saved $28. And that included $4 worth of milk I needed and didnt have a Q for.
I didnt buy the BBQ sauce because a friend told me about the Kroger deal. Plus, when I got to Target, the BBQ sauce was 1.42 – more than I expected!
I live in Raleigh NC and our prices are definitely higher here…the true delights were 2.64 a box and the cheapest kraft salad dressing was 1.79 a bottle.
I am gonna load a receipt and pics of what I bought later. Can I do that here? Because I have a question about part of the receipt that made no sense to me.
I have never done Target q’s before, so I was pretty happy.
Yes, you can do that here Mat. As long as your pictures are family friendly. Just upload your photos to photobucket, and then copy the html and paste it here in the comment section.
Here is a photo of what I bought for $14.

I am confused by the middle part where it says “special coupon” – did they charge me that price or was the coupon worth that price or what??? I cant tell if I was ripped off here or not…

it should’ve cost me .48 for the 2 bottles, but I cant tell if that is what I was charged…
Our SuperTarget had 7oz Kraft cheese shreds (fat free and 2% varieties) for $1.52, normal price for that size. The coupons work for that size, so after the $1/2 IPQ and the $1/2 store Q, they are 52c a bag.
Today at our local Super Target (KCMO), Gold n Plump drumsticks are on sale for $1.49 a pkg. (5-6 drumsticks). The sale date posted is 5/14-5/18. With the Target $1 off Gold n Plump coupon, that makes them 49 cents a package!
