One cute thrifty idea is to get a jar and put pieces of paper. On the pieces of paper you would write special notes on them like, \”You are a wonderful friend,\” and give the jar to him/her for Christmas. He/She can pull one out everyday and think that they are a great friend and think high of themself\n\nRecent blog post: a href=”javascript:void(0);”Make your own Christmas ornaments/a

I love your thrifty baskets idea. I\’m also giving away giftcards and prizes that I have won from radio contests, baking treats for freinds and neighbors, and buying on sales. \n\nMerry Christmas to you!\n\nRecent blog post: a href=”javascript:void(0);”The 12 days of Christmas/a

My thrifty Christmas idea that we are doing this year is to open pop top cans like Chunky Soup from the bottom with the safety can opener that cuts from the side. We\’re washing them out and then stuffing them with small gifts, candy or gift cards and then putting the bottom back on with with hot glue. You may remove the label and decorate the can. We are leaving the soup labels on and informing everyone that due to the economic recession that this was all that we could afford.\n\nEveryone will wonder how the candy got in there and it is cheaper than a gift card holder. Use your iTunes gift cards from the CVS Batman deal or free candy to fill the cans and the deal is more thrifty!\n\npeppermintpatty5@yahoo.com

Thanks for the giveaway!\n\nHere\’s a thrifty idea: Bake goodies for Christmas gifts for friends and neighbors using mostly items from your stockpile that were free or cheap! My aunt always gives freshly baked sourdough bread and jarred preserves that she\’s made. Yum! :) \n\nRecent blog post: a href=”javascript:void(0);”Kroger Craziness!/a

The simplest way to save money for the holidays is to stay out of stores. I make a list in Jan of all the birthdays, anniverseries, Christmas etc.. and start shopping in Jan when I spot a great deal. Then I mark that person off the list and usually by Dec I am totally finished.

We recycle out glass jars from mayo, pickles or whaever we use to give away cookies in a jar, cocoa mix or just a whole bunch of goodies and then decorate the lid and the jar and tie on a ribbon!

Have picked up Christmas mugs on sale– Also at garage sales in the past. Can be filled with candy/hot chocolate /tea bags for an inexpensive gift.\n\nI also have several candy dishes I bought for 25/50 cents—a ribbon and some holiday chocolate in them will make cute little gifts.\n\nJust use your imagination and creativity. It can be lots of fun!\n\nkarin56381 (at) gmail.com

Thrifty idea: Use old or leftover wrapping paper for gift wrap. It\’s very durable and can be very pretty! You can even get a lot of it really cheap at Goodwill sometimes!

We love to exchange presents in my family, but with having 4 siblings, it\’s a bit expensive to exchange with everyone. So, this year, we picked (out of a hat) one person to exchange a \”real\” gift with and another to exchange a \”Goodwill or homemade\” gift with! That way, we each get to buy a present for two other people, but one is very cheap! :)

To save on gift wrapping we re use all the great gift bags we are given. I always buy the next years wrapping paper after Christmas at rock bottom prices. Also, my girls love to cut out gift tags from colorful paper and decorate them with stickers and their own art to coordinate with the bag or paper. It costs less and adds a personal touch to your gift!\nmonicamdc8 at aol dot com\n\nRecent blog post: a href=”javascript:void(0);”Abigail\’s First Piano Recital/a

Definitely shopping the sales after Christmas for next year! I have found the best decorations, bows, and wrap for a fraction of their retail cost. And then I\’m all set to go for the following Christmas! (katmeowkat AT gmail.com)

i have several neices and nephews so this year we decided to exchange books with a $5 limit. This way, they all get a gift that doesnt\’ break the bank. They all love to read so it should be a hit. 8-)

I\’m making gift baskets (or in some cases purses where I found clearanced purses)full of bath items, razors, nail polish, etc. for my sister-in-laws.\n\nI\’ve got some Home Depot gift cards and itunes gift cards for the guys. Each of these deals included other \”gifts\” like movie tickets for my kids and \”The Dark Knight\” for my brother. I bought the CVS stuff using ECB overage from Black Friday shopping.\n\nI\’m also giving away some gift cards I got free from MyPoints.com.\n\nI love thrifty giving (and I honestly think I\’m giving better gifts than before!)\n\nRecent blog post: a href=”javascript:void(0);”My favorite is free/a

Myfavorite thrifty Christmas idea is to buy family presents instead of presents for individuals. A family pass to the zoo or the musueum is a lot simpler and often cheaper than buying everyone in a family an individual present.

With basically no Christmas budget this year I\’m trying to make as many gifts as possible. For my nephew I am making him a t-shirt with some hip iron on fonts. With sales and coupons the total cost is $5.00!
