It’s a big day today. Today is decided who becomes the President of the U.S. I urge all of you to pray for our new President, and know that God is always in control.
I will leave you with a short Scripture this evening.
Romans 13: 1-3 NIV
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you..

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I feel the same way, but we can’t lose sight that God is in control. We may not understand his plans, but His will is perfect.
words like these will make you lose readership. how about a non-partisan blog?
Crystal, Thanks so much for the encouraging words… I am scared to death, but trying to put my faith in the Lord and know that He has a plan in all of this.I. too, am horrified that we will have a President that is A-Ok with killing the unborn…. makes me sick to my stomach and I could go on and on. Glad to know we see things the same way.
Fifi – I am aware of this. It has always been my plan to not separate my beliefs from my blog. I believe that if I will put the Lord first, then He will bless me. There are plenty of blogs out there that separate everything, and that’s fine. I will not be one of those.
Thank you for your post. I am deeply saddened but I know God is in control. Thank you for not compromising your beliefs on your blog.
While it breaks my heart to have a president who supports abortion rights, it also broke my heart to have a president in office for the last 8 years who approved the use of force and associated collateral damage to “eradicate terror.” Any instance of innocent life lost is a tradgedy. Period. That is true if the innocent life is unborn, a resident of the Unites States, or an Iraqi citizen. BR/BR/As a follower of Jesus, I realize that my allegiance is not to a flag, a country, or a man. My allegiance is to the Kingdom of God. My hope is not in government. My hope is in Christ. BR/BR/I voted for Obama because I felt he was most capable of tackling the difficult issues that face our country. My vote for him does not mean that I support everything he stands for. I would venture to guess that many McCain supporters felt the same way about their candidate. BR/BR/We are told over and over in scripture, “Do not fear.” I encourage every believer to latch on to this command. Regardless of who you voted for, regardless of who sits in office, we do not fear. Our hope is in something bigger than fear itself.
I am heartbroken as well, but isn’t it wonderful to know that God is our source! BTW, to Fifi: who cares? I am so thankful that Crystal is being herself. It is fake to hide who you are! I don’t understand who wouldn’t be devastated by this turn of events. All of these precious babies…we need to be spending a lot of time on our knees. Thanks again for being real Crystal!BR/Love, Jessica (jsings115 at yahoo dot com)
huckaby fam,BR/As a follower of Christ we should look to scripture to see what God Himself says. The only issues from this election that matter to God are the sanctity of human life and the institution of marriage. Based upon God’s word we should disqualify any candidate that doesn’t align with scripture. No other issues are of importance in God’s eyes.
Just wanted to mention to everyone that I did not post this so that we could start to argue or debate. Please keep it civil and do not argue. I will not publish any comments that I believe are out of hand, and if this turns into an argument, then I will delete all comments. BR/BR/Thanks to all of you for your encouraging words. There are times where I question whether I am doing the right thing by including my beliefs in my blog. But I don’t want to be like all the other money saving blogs, and I don’t want the Lord to be ashamed of me because I was ashamed to include Him in my blog. BR/BR/ I appreciate all of the kind words.
Seeing things differently, or rather approaching the same issue from different angles, is not a good reason for me personally to stop reading a blog that I enjoy, just as not seeing eye to eye with a dear friend would make me reconsider their friendship. The differences are what stretch and challenge us to make us all better human beings.BR/BR/Huckaby fam, bravo.BR/BR/Crystal, thanks for a rockin’ blog.
Cassie – - I totally agree! I have many friends (including my dear friend, The Thrifty Mama) who approach issues from different angles than I do. I believe that enriches our conversations and our friendships. I am able to see someone else’s perspective, or at least try! I believe that is how we grow as human beings. BR/BR/And, Crystal, it IS a rockin’ blog
