Dirty water from your fish tank is actually filled with fabulous nutrients that will work great for your houseplants and/or vegetable garden. When cleaning your tank out, use that old water for plants. It works like compost would, and provides valuable nutrients for plant life.
One word of caution: If you use chemicals in your tank water, it’s best not to use that water to water houseplants and/or your vegetable garden. Do not do this if you have a salt water tank either.
