Over the past several months, I know you all have taken advantage of all those hot deals for dental floss. Of course we all know how important it is to floss daily, which is why we have stocked up. But did you know there are other great uses for all that dental floss?

1. Remove stuck on cookies or appetizers – rather than fight to get the stuck-on food off the baking tray, grab a piece of dental floss and slide it right under those tasty foods and loosen them right up. No more crumbly food!

2. Secure buttons – even though it’s supposed to be spring, it’s still coat weather in many parts of the country. If you have coat buttons that won’t stay put, use dental floss instead of thread. It’s thicker and stronger and will keep that button in place.

3. Tie up the garden climbers – don’t have string to tie up your climbing plants in the garden? Grab some dental floss to secure the plants. It’s delicate enough not to damage the plants. And if you have mint, it will help to keep some of the bugs away too!

4. Kitchen helper – dental floss held taut between your index fingers is a perfect slicer for boiled eggs, soft cheese, jell-o or cake. No need for a knife. And no mess!

5. Quick craft for the kids – doesn’t it seem like all the bead craft kits come with a lot of beads but only enough string for one necklace? Dental floss to the rescue! It’s easy for little hands to use. And if you have waxed floss it’s hours of fun, or at least a few extra minutes for Mom.

6. Travel helper – broken shoelaces, ponytail holder or luggage repair. Don’t’ stress while on the road. Break out the dental floss to substitute for a broken shoelace. Pull your hair back and wrap dental floss to make a ponytail. If the handle on your luggage breaks or you need a quick lock, dental floss to the rescue for a quick fix.

7. Holiday decorating – use dental floss to make popcorn garland, hang ornaments or tie back garlands. Use the mint green to blend in better.

8. Hang pictures – rather than use braided wire to hang a photo and risk marking up your walls, string the dental floss in place of the wire. Easy hanging and clean walls too.

So next time you’re wondering if you really need more dental floss, grab some. It’s not just for dental health anymore!
